In this specialised workshop, Kirsty Budding will teach Received Pronunciation (RP) to teens through study and performance of English theatre and film scripts.
Received Pronunciation is recognised as a standard English accent taught and used widely in theatre, film, education and public life. It is called 'received' because it is traditionally received through education and is associated with elite English schools such as Eton and Harrow.
Performers will learn RP pronunciation through performing dialogue from plays as well as extracts from English films and notable historical speeches.
Students who attend the Tuesday workshop will also perform a final production for family and friends at 5pm on Tuesday. In the show, each performer will deliver one monologue in an RP accent and also will appear in scenes with other performers.
