Budding Entertainment is delighted to offer a new children’s stage play adapted from the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett (author of The Secret Garden).

A LITTLE PRINCESS is the story of a young girl's resilience and the power of her imagination. Raised in India, wealthy Sara Crewe is sent to boarding school in New York while her father serves in WWI. But when her father goes missing, Sara is reduced to poverty and becomes a servant, never giving up hope in miracles as she forms friendships that will last a lifetime.

Children enrolling in this course will play students, servants, narrators and teachers at Miss Minchin's School for Girls, where girls with wonderful minds and imaginations support one another through the hardships of their times. This exciting theatre production course is exclusively for girls ages 6-14.

Older performers are required for challenging roles usually played by adults, such as Miss. Minchin, while there are ample opportunities for beginning performers to play their first role on stage.

CASTING PROCESS

A team of tutors will assign roles based on the performance, teamwork, listening skills and general behaviour demonstrated in Lessons 1 and 2, as well as the audition performance in Lesson 3, where each child will deliver a monologue. Monologue options will be provided in class. Scripts and roles will be emailed to parents/guardians between Lesson 3 and Lesson 4.

All performers receive a role and speaking part. Performers are taught to be supportive and kind - to clap loudly for each other and raise each other up. There are no small roles and no diva behaviour is allowed.

Costumes will be provided by the Company (parents will be requested to provide basics such as shoes). Performers will need to do their own hair and makeup prior to arriving for the final show (a guide will be provided via email).
