How do you write a play? How do you craft character? How do you create conflict? How do you write dialogue? How do you work with actors? How do actors approach text? How can understanding playwriting make us stronger actors? How do you write a part that you can play well? How do you find inspiration?

In this workshop, young actors will be taught the fundamentals of playwriting. You will unleash your imagination as you develop your own original concepts for short plays and scenes, to be performed by the group at the end of Day 2. This workshop is ideal for actors who want to challenge themselves by writing their own material as well as develop and perform new material with their peers. Teens are encouraged to try their hand at both comedy and drama and will be given exercises to prompt creative thinking. The showcase of original works will be performed in a free production for family and friends on the Smith's stage, Friday 9 July.

This workshop is for Teens 13-18 and takes place at Smith's Alternative with Kirsty Budding.
