Life & Little Adventures with an Influencer Family
The BE Talent Agency in Canberra is growing and this week we're celebrating signing new clients Gretchen, Tyler and Marcus!
Sharing their adventures on Instagram @life_and_our_little_adventures, this outdoorsy and fun-loving family have worked with brands like Big W, Smiggle, LeapFrog, Best & Less, Oscar Wylee and more.
We took the opportunity to interview Gretchen about her family's experience as Insta influencers and digital content creators.
Tell us about yourself and your family!
I’m Gretchen, a Canberra local mum. I work part time and I'm a full time mum. My boys are Marcus and Tyler, and my partner is Daniel. We are a family of four who love life and our little adventures. We are also newbie farmers, discovering life in the outback. My boys and I love being in the outdoors and that is where you'll find us!
You have over 25k followers on Instagram and have worked with a range of brands. How did your journey as an Influencer family begin?
Instagram was a tool I used to connect with the outside world when I had Tyler. Those late night feeds and sleepless nights with a baby/toddler can be quite isolating and I was able to connect with other mums like myself - awake with their little ones in the wee hours of the night - LOL. The “influencer journey” started out organically. I remember seeing a post from one our fave hat brands called Bedhead Hats – calling out for little ones who genuinely love their hats as they would love them to represent and take snaps of the new designs. My boys have always worn their hats, so I signed up and we got chosen. And the rest as they say is history.
You create amazing content! What content has been the most fun for you and your boys to create?
Thank you, you are so kind. In general, my boys and I love taking photos and videos and documenting what we do. So the ones you see on my grid, that’s who we are. It’s like - put a camera in front of my boys and they will smile LOL. If you ask Marcus and Tyler, they will say give them all the toy reviews and new clothes to model and they are happy! For me, I love campaigns that support and encourage mums (and dads) to be in the frame. So any campaign that would encourage my partner and I to be in the frame with our boys, we are in! Don't get me wrong, I love being behind the camera, but I really advocate for all parents to be in the frame too. One day, these snaps and videos will be what will be left behind for our loved ones to remember us by. So I say, get in the frame! Even without make up! Raw and real is what makes beautiful memories.
Which social media accounts do you love to follow and why?
To name a few, my faves are mummas like Jess of @mrsjessrolley, G of @bowtifulchescadoll, another Jess of @jessierobertsx and Adele of @adele_barbaro. I follow mummas like myself. Most of them have little ones around Tyler’s age. It’s just nice to know that when this “mum gig” gets a bit challenging, there are other mummas who can relate and can give you another side of it.
What are your tips for running an engaging social media account?
Be genuine. Appreciate the connections you make. Share what really resonates with you. Reply to the messages and comments you receive and always be grateful for the time each and every follower spend in your account. It’s not important how big or small your following is, as long as you value the community you have created and the beautiful accounts that support each other.
