This theatre production course runs for two terms (Terms 3 and 4) with weekly classes on Sundays in Acton from 5pm-6pm, and the final performance on Saturday 13th December in the 350-seat Overture Hall theatre in Weston.
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a Year 12 in possession of P-plates, must be in want of a girlfriend…"
Meet Lizzy. She’s a sharp Year 11 student getting straight As at her local public school and trying to survive her very embarrassing mum.
Enter Darcy: School Captain at the ultra-elite Pemberley Grammar, and heir to a trust fund bigger than the school’s arts budget. He thinks Lizzy’s clever… just not formal-material.
Kirsty Budding’s bold teen adaptation of Pride & Prejudice reimagines Austen’s iconic characters in a modern Aussie high school setting, with plenty of wit, drama, and a sharp eye on social class today.
In this world, Lizzy’s sisters Kitty and Lydia are more interested in Keeping Up with the Kardashians than keeping up with homework, while Mrs Bennet binge watches The Bachelor and shows up unannounced at teen house parties.
Kind-hearted Bingley is smitten with Jane, despite Instagram meddling from Darcy’s toxic sisters. Lizzy’s cousin Colin still nurses a childhood crush on her, making every party awkward. And then there's George Wickham, the charming Pemberley Grammar dropout who claims he was cruelly bullied by Darcy.
This fresh, funny retelling blends classic romance with high school chaos, reimagining Austen’s characters in a world of group chats, formal drama and social media scandal.
There is a wide range of hilarious roles in this production, including the five Bennet sisters, Mrs Bennet, Darcy, Bingley, Wickham, Colin, Caroline, Miss B, and more - there is something for everyone!
